One of our research team, Abdullah Firaswan explain our research results to conference participant in guided poster session on International Conference on Biological Science 2015. Even though our research not completely done but there were several fact that we got both from literature study and field study. There were several perturbation and responsible for ecosystem alteration such as massive land conversion to shrimp pond which was rapidly started since 2000. Besides, sometimes local people gave mangrove leaf for their livestock in the past. In the term of physical condition,  river mouth usually closed in the dry season due to sand-dune collapse. Therefore, water stagnation is inevitable and usually swept mangrove seedling and lessen their abundance.

However, since 2007 there were mangrove replant program from government, NGO, academicians and some companies through CSR Program. Interestingly, after we analyzed satellite imageries data that provides by Landsat 7 and 8 using GIS 10.1 , there is a HOPE! Mangrove area were constantly increase since 2007 (green). However in fact, THREAT that comes from shrimp pond surrounding this ecosystem is increasing too although not all of pond was actively used (red). Well, hopefully this upwards trends (mangrove) will continue to grow up since there are lot of mangrove replant activities. In contrary, shrimp pond will decrease year by year. Well it depends on collaboration from government as stakeholder and other parties such as NGO, academicians, and the most important LOCAL PEOPLE 🙂
